Leah Foster Smith
Leah Foster Smith, MSN, APRN, FNP-BC, CNN-NP, FNKF has 20 years experience as a nephrology nurse practitioner. She has recruited and developed the largest team of nephrology advanced practitioners in the United States for Metrolina Nephrology Associates, a 37 nephrologist, 41 advanced practice provider practice in Charlotte, NC. In 2017 she became a Certified Nephrology Nurse Practitioner (CNN-NP) and achieved the highest exam score in the US. Leah's strategy is to lead and empower advanced practitioners to practice at the top of their scope of licensure. To help achieve this goal she has created a formalized nephrology APP training program that includes both clinical and didactic courses helping nephrology APPs integrate into all nephrology practice settings including CKD clinic, outpatient dialysis and acute nephrology care settings. Leah currently serves in many nephrology organizations at local, state and national levels including RPA, NKF, and ANNA. She is a highly regarded national speaker and regularly presents on nephrology topics for ANNA, RPA, NKF, RRI, NC Medical Society and the NC NP Symposium.
