2025 Sessions Open Now!
Advanced Practice Providers are needed now more than ever in nephrology practices. The challenge is that current training programs don't prepare them to hit the ground running in a nephrology practice. Our Cleared for Clinic course will provide APP's with the foundational knowledge required to confidently deliver sound medical care in the nephrology office setting
The Cleared for Clinic will be a three week course with competency exams administered online to evaluate retention and application of learning. We highly recommend taking our 8 week Ready for Rounds course before our Cleared for Clinic Course.
Course modules are delivered live to our enrolled Advanced Practice Providers each week. All that is needed is an internet connection and computer, tablet or other mobile device. The platform enables two-way communication between participants and instructor as well as on demand polling to engage participants and assess comprehension of course materials.
Cleared for Clinic is accredited by the American Association of Nurse Practitioners® as an approved provider of nurse practitioner continuing education. Provider number: 5018145 . This activity is approved for up to 29.16 contact hour(s) (which includes 8.12 hour(s) of pharmacology).
Gain confidence in the level of training received by your advanced practitioners through engagement and participation reports, application guides and course success feedback.
Advanced Practice Providers are busy and their schedules demanding. Our platform allows for playback on your own time so you have the ability to review any of your past class sessions for study purposes. Attendance for classes is required due to being accredited as a live course. They will remain available throughout the session.
Leah Foster Smith, MSN, APRN, FNP-BC, CNN-NP, FNKF, FANNA, FAANP, has 24 years of experience as a nephrology nurse practitioner. She has recruited and developed the largest team of nephrology advanced practice providers in the United States for Metrolina Nephrology Associates in Charlotte, NC. In 2017, she became a Certified Nephrology Nurse Practitioner (CNN-NP), achieving the highest exam score in the nation.
Leah’s strategy is to lead and empower advanced practice providers to practice at the top of their scope of licensure. To help achieve this goal, she created a formalized nephrology APP training program that includes both clinical and didactic courses, helping nephrology APPs integrate into all nephrology practice settings, including CKD clinic, outpatient dialysis, and acute nephrology care.
Leah is a Fellow of the American Association of Nurse Practitioners (FAANP), the American Nephrology Nurses Association (FANNA), and the National Kidney Foundation (FNKF), recognizing her national leadership in nephrology care and education. She currently serves in many nephrology organizations at the local, state, and national levels, including ANNA, ASN, NKF, and RPA.
A highly regarded national speaker with over 80 podium presentations, Leah is also a published author in nephrology textbooks and national curricula. In addition, she serves as an Adjunct Instructor at the University of North Carolina School of Nursing, contributing to the next generation of nurse leaders.
